More on bedrooms

Not all of the bedrooms are shown in the photo gallery of bedrooms. The top bedroom illustrated has two queen-sized beds. It is on the first floor of the annex. The next bedroom shown is in the annex on the second floor. The photo shows the round table, one of the studio beds, the alcove with the refrigerator and toaster, and the bathroom with bathtub. The bedroom with the large pelt on the wall is on the ground floor in the annex, next to the covered deck. This is a double bed. Below that is the master bedroom, with a large bed and a large private bath. The final photo shows the loft with the small beds. A bedroom with a queen sized bed and a bedroom with two twin beds are not shown.

One solution for us is to bring our collection of queen-sized air mattresses (the ones with the plug-in motors that blow up the mattress in 10 minutes). One can be used in the loft, making it much more desirable. One can be used in the room with the two studio beds, creating a room with a queen bed for the parents and two studios for children. We’ll figure it out. Then we round out everything with sleeping bags for the older children and cribs for the infants. It'll be fun!

Bedrooms

Four bedrooms are in the home proper. Behind the home is a covered deck leading to a two story annex with three bedrooms. One bedroom has a king-sized mattress, one has a single queen-sized mattress, one has two queen-sized matresses, one has a double mattress, one has two twin beds, one is a large room with two twin beds which function during the day as sofas (not sofa beds, but two twins each with a large polygon-shaped backrest which serves as the back of the "sofa" and can be lifted off to turn the "sofa" into a twin). This room also has a small TV, private bath, microwave, and telephone. Finally there is a small loft-like bedroom with a futon single and a small, utility double bed with springs and a thin mattress, but also with a private bath.

I think that we are going to have to have a lottery or something to determine who gets what, unless someone wants to volunteer to take the less desirable rooms. One thing that is not going to happen: Mom and I are not going to make the decision! You will have to work it out yourself. The sofas in the living room look pretty good as beds, although we will be using that area until late at night as a common area and mom feels strongly that they should not be assigned as beds.

Kids are going to have to sleep in sleeping bags, for the most part. I didn't see cribs but mom says there are cribs somewhere in the house. I saw two high chairs, but there may be more. There is a full-fledged sauna room and a pool room in the basement of the home and table tennis can be set up in the garage.

The kitchen is actually two kitchens in tandem with one another. Two sinks, two stoves, two ovens, two refrigerators (three, including a full-sized one next to the pool room), three toasters, etc. Lots of room to work. In addition to 14 large seats at the large dining table, there are five seats at the kitchen bar and three at a small bar between the dining and living room, all 8 with separate barstools.

A Weber BBQ and a picnic table are out on the covered deck, between the house and the annex.

It is better than I expected. I think we'll have fun. More photos of the house later. Also, photos of the wonderful recreation center open to all homeowners and renters of homes. Passes are required. We have enough passes for 16 people. It's $5/day/person for additional guests. But I suspect that we'll find lots to do, including day hikes in the Tahoe area, that will keep us busy without everyone having to go to the rec center at the same time.

Love to you all,

Dad

Northstar Home in June

I hope that you are all looking forward to our reunion in June! Mom and I drove up to Northstar and Lake Tahoe last Friday to check out the home we rented, the recreational facilities at Northstar that we can use while we are there, and the activities around Lake Tahoe that might interest you. Here is a photo of the home:
